EASTCONN’S Art at the Capitol Theater (ACT),

Description

EASTCONN’s Arts at the Capitol Theater (ACT) is a regional, public, performing arts magnet high school for Connecticut students in grades 9-12. ACT’s arts-infused education program is designed for academically motivated students who are expected to focus on one of five arts disciplines: Acting/Vocal Performance; Dance; Theater Production (lighting design/set design/costuming); Audio/Video Production; and Creative Writing. Students have daily access to creative experiences through a rigorous curriculum that integrates the performing arts with traditional academic high school subjects. Highly qualified artists and certified teachers instruct students in an enriching arts environment that’s driven by a personalized, competency-based approach to teaching and learning. ACT offers hands-on, project-based learning opportunities year-round, as well as an opportunity to participate in professional-quality performances, writing competitions, A/V projects, dance recitals, and more. ACT is known for its positive school environment, based on the principles of “Respect Yourself, Respect the Work, Respect the Community.”
